First the Do's, then the Don'ts...1. Smile In The Shade!! {NO TAN: it's as simple as that} The lighter your skin, the quicker your tattoo will fade. Melanin is naturally produced by the body but production increases when ultraviolet radiation from the sun targets the skin, causing the skin to tan. As different wavelengths are used in lasers your skin tone can alter the way that your body reacts to the treatment. Use a sunblock or high SPF everyday even when you may think the sun is not shining the rays are still there! If you’re serious about saying goodbye to your tattoo, be serious about following this advice. 2. It's No Quickie! Have Patience. Around 6-8 weeks is the optimum time between laser tattoo removal sessions. This gives your body time to break up the ink particles and flush them out. It also gives your skin time to heal before your next session. You can leave longer gaps between appointments, which we discuss at your first in person consultation. Tattoo removal can be active up to 6 months after your session, but may slow down as the weeks go on. 3. Gulp! (Drink plenty of water) Tattoo ink is removed by your body's immune system, which needs plenty of water to function correctly. So if you're having or thinking about laser treatment water is your new best friend! It also helps to keep your skin in a good, supple condition, which will again help with the treatment. 4. Get those all important Zzz's! (Sleep well) Your immune system suffers if you do not get enough deep sleep. We are advised that 8 hours is an ideal sleep time and some people need more. Less than 6 and the immune system may start to suffer. 5. Get moving, to get it moving! (Be active) No you don't have to be a dedicated gym go-er, but you do have to stay fit and well. Exercise boosts the cells in your body that attack foreign bodies. So, improving your immune system, helps to flush out the toxins more efficiently. As well as helping with your tattoo removal process exercise releases endorphins which trigger positive feelings in the body! Win win! 6. Eat it, to beat it! (Eat well) Immune-boosting foods are available everywhere so get them on your shopping list. They are another key factor in having a good immune system. Stick to a healthy eating lifestyle and you will not only look healthier you’ll feel great on the inside too. 7. Soothe it!! (Moisturise) As well as drinking water, keeping the area moisturised and supple is important. We suggest using Lynton Light Soothe, Advanced Post-Laser & IPL Serum. It has been formulated especially for those undergoing laser treatments.
8. Cool it!! (Cool the area) During and immediately after laser treatments we cool the area. This is because when the laser targets the ink it heats it up and we want to avoid heat damage to the skin. Also, it can make the treatment more comfortable. 9. Eye love it!! (Eye protection) We provide eye protection at all your appointments. Different goggles are provided for different treatments and we have special goggles for each of these. You might look like a fly in one set of our goggles but safety comes first! 1. NO JOKE don't smoke!(Smoking slows down the process) We're not here to tell you what is right or wrong for you - it's a FACT that smoking slows down the tattoo removal process. Most people know this one by now, but smoking hinders blood circulation. This makes your tattoo fade a lot more slowly. The ink particles are carried away by immune system cells in your blood called macrophages, so the better your blood circulation, the faster the process. 2. Go Easy on the booze... (Reduce alcohol intake) As you probably know, alcohol affects things like sleeping, healing and seriously dehydrates the body. For some people it can lead them to make unhealthy food choices. All these factors in turn reduce the effectiveness of the immune system. If you do have a drink, make sure you rehydrate and drink less than you would normally throughout your tattoo removal journey. 3. Pause during pregnancy (No treatment in pregnancy) During pregnancy, the skin becomes more sensitive to light and therefore more susceptible to react to laser light. There is an increased risk of scarring and pigmentations on photosensitive skin so tattoo removal is not permitted. There is little research actually regarding the risk of the tattoo ink affecting the growth of an unborn child. 4. No Under 18's (No treatment unless your 18+) If you're under 18 you shouldn't have been able to get a tattoo in the first place (In the UK) We ask your D.O.B on your pre-consultation, anyone under 18 will be asked to contact us again once old enough. (The UK prohibits anyone under the age of 18 to have a tattoo) There are other Do's and Don'ts which we will discuss in your consultation and throughout your journey we'll keep reminding you of these! We've got the BEST training and BEST equipment to give you the BEST results, all we need now is you on your BEST behaviour and follow our advice.

On the 1st October 2020 I got my first ever tattoo. IT HURT! Originally I was going to have it on the fold of my inner wrist, but when I arrived at The Humble Lotus, the writing was too long to fit across my skinny wrist so we opted to move it. Little did I know that was a blessing in disguise because I think I would have tapped out and ended up with just the letter D. So we moved it further up my arm. Courtney was great, she made me comfortable in her funky studio and we began. A few expletives and me humming away and it was done...I was branded with DISAPPEARINK. I immediately loved it and I even thought I can't get rid of this, but true to my word it will be removed!! I want to know how it feels for a client when I'm zapping their tattoos, I also want to show how confident in our Lynton Lumina machine we are at removing them! So...I will update this blog from time to time to let you in on my very own laser tattoo removal journey!! |
